Is Cataract Surgery
Covered by Insurance?

/

Yes. Health insurance will typically cover cataract surgery because it is considered a medically necessary procedure. Be sure to check with your insurance company for coverage details as certain criteria may apply.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Cataract Removal

The Type of Intraocular Lens (IOL)

Monofocal and multifocal IOLs have different prices that can affect the final surgical cost. The same is true of toric lenses that correct astigmatism.

The Technology Involved

The use of femtosecond laser systems and other advanced equipment can affect the price of a cataract procedure. This is due to extra training and the benefits the devices provide.

The Surgical Technique Used

Bladeless surgical techniques can similarly affect pricing given the technology used. We can discuss these factors during your visit to our offices in Hackettstown or Morristown, NJ.

Financing Options for Cataract Surgery Making Your Surgery More Affordable

Retina & Eye Specialists of New Jersey tries to make surgery as affordable as possible for cataract patients. Even if you would like a premium IOL to address astigmatism, we will work with you to find a cost-effective solution that works within your budget.

In addition to accepting VSP insurance and all major credit cards, we also accept financing through CareCredit®. CareCredit allows you to divide the total cost of cataract surgery into affordable installments. These monthly payments are more manageable, so you can experience clear and restored vision without breaking the bank.

Beware of Low-Cost Deals

/

If you see ads about cataract surgery for just $1,500, the price may be too good to be true. Many of these offers involve hidden fees and additional charges. The surgery may also be performed by surgeons who lack credentials or good reputations. Be sure to do your research about surgeons and facilities before committing to low-cost cataract surgery.

Is Cataract Surgery Worth the Price?

Many patients feel that the medical benefits of cataract surgery are a worthwhile investment. Thanks to cataract removal, you'll be able to see clearly again. That could lead to more fun with your loved ones and the ability to read, stream shows, and perform close-up work with greater ease.

These medical benefits relate to general quality of life improvements. Even with monofocal IOLs and basic cataract surgery, you'll be much more independent once your cataracts are gone.

If you have cataracts and have questions about insurance coverage, out-of-pocket expenses, or the surgical procedure itself, the team at Retina & Eye Specialists of New Jersey can provide the answers you're looking for.

Amazing. I can see like I am 18 again. I had no idea how badly cataracts had impacted my vision. I only knew something was wrong. Based on his excellent reputation, I called Dr. Lalin. He replaced the affected lenses in both eyes. I was able to continue working with almost no downtime and very little discomfort. Thank you Dr. Lalin.

I was taking my friend here for cataract surgery and decided to make a regular checkup for myself. There was a little bit of a mix up when I first showed up to my appointment because they had in their computer that I had canceled it due to a scheduling conflict. I had not canceled my appointment. They took me a few minutes later than my scheduled appointment but I was grateful it was not a problem. Everyone was gracious and everyone apologized for the mix up. I felt everyone was patient and very thorough, from the technicians to the doctor, to ordering new glasses. My friend was ill that day and did not come with me to help choose new glasses. Lordes helped me and I am very pleased. (The frames selected were also friend approved!) Thank you Lordes! I would reccomend them to everyone.
