Millions of people enjoy crystal-clear vision today because of LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) surgery that effectively treats nearsighted, farsighted, and astigmatism. Dr. Sean C. Lalin performs LASIK surgery in Hackettstown and Morristown, NJ, helping you reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
Your vision is in expert hands with Dr. Lalin, a board-certified eye surgeon selected as a “Top Opthalmologist” by Consumers’ Research Council of America, American Health Council, and NJ Top Docs. At Retina & Eye Specialists of New Jersey, we perform state-of-the-art LASIK and PRK refractive surgery to ensure that you can see your very best with outstanding patient outcomes.
About LASIK Surgery
LASIK employs ultra-precise lasers to reshape the cornea, the transparent, dome-shaped surface that covers the eye. This treatment improves the focus of light onto the retina, and the result is significant improvement in clarity of vision. In Dr. Lalin's expert hands, LASIK surgery is quick and painless, with results usually evident in as little as 24 hours.
According to published studies, the vast majority of patients see 20/40 or better after LASIK, and most patients achieve 20/20 vision. This result brings exciting new freedom from prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses.
LASIK patients experience many life-enhancing benefits, including:
- Clear vision all day (no more morning fumbling for glasses or contacts)
- New personal confidence
- Simplified lifestyle: no more replacing glasses, cleaning lenses, packing supplies for overnight trips
- Freedom to enjoy the beach, swimming, and outdoor activities without worry about lenses
- Improved performance and freedom for athletes and sports participants
- Advanced vision for pilots, police, photographers, military personnel, etc.
In addition, your usual vision-related expenses, such as for glasses or contact lenses, can be reduced or eliminated entirely, offsetting the cost of LASIK surgery. Freedom from prescription glasses or contact lenses can cover the cost of LASIK in as little as five to seven years.
LASIK at Retina & Eye Specialists of New Jersey
All of our prospective LASIK patients begin with an initial, comprehensive exam. Dr. Lalin will ensure your eyes are healthy and that you are a good candidate for the procedure (Read more about candidacy in this blog post.) In some cases, Dr. Lalin may recommend an alternative laser procedure: photo refractive keratectomy (PRK). This surgery may be better for patients with thin corneal tissue or a dry eyes condition. If you have presbyopia, Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay treatment can provide an effective solution.
Outpatient LASIK and PRK procedures are performed in our in-office Morristown surgical center. For LASIK surgery, Dr. Lalin uses an advanced, bladeless technique. This precise, computer-enhanced laser process reduces complications and can be used on a wider variety of patients, including those with thinner corneas.
In Dr. Lalin's expert hands, LASIK surgery is quick and painless, with results usually evident in as little as 24 hours.
Dr. Lalin uses a combination of advanced lasers to open a small flap in the cornea surface and reshape the underlying tissue. Throughout the 30-minute procedure, most patients remain entirely comfortable with topical anesthetic drops and light oral sedation. Since healing of the cornea takes place quickly and naturally, sutures and bandages are typically not required.
Recovery after LASIK surgery is quick, with little to no downtime required. Many patients are back to normal activities the following day, already enjoying the exciting benefits of clear, lens-free* vision.
